I love the summer season for many reasons. But at the top of my list are summer dinner parties. We only have a small apartment with a little outdoor terrace, but hosting has been our favourite thing to do this summer. From BBQs to Ottolenghi-style small plates, the nights have consisted of lots of food, games, and just having a good laugh.
As we go into September, I’m hoping that the weather remains decent enough to still host these events…and then once it gets too cold to sit outside, we’ll just have to bring out the “hygge” (a Danish expression describing a cosy atmosphere) and all squeeze into our kitchen for colder, darker, but just as fun, evenings.
Speaking about dinner parties, this week I partnered with More With Mushrooms, a board responsible for the generic publicity of all fresh cultivated mushrooms sold in Britain (how fun). It was a lovely partnership and I developed one of the tastiest small dishes I’ve made this summer…"Crispy Mushrooms with Whipped Green Miso Beans”. Super simple to make, a crowd-pleaser, and full of B vitamins.
On that note, let’s jump right into the recipe weekly round up.
Weekly Round Up
CRISPY MUSHROOMS WITH WHIPPED GREEN MISO BEANS - You don’t need any oil to get these mushrooms super crispy, just an air fryer! Honestly a delicious and super fun dish to serve to your friends and family at a dinner party.
STICKY MISO AUBERGINE - You guys absolutely loved my Sticky Ginger Aubergine I posted a while ago, so I thought I’d make another version of it, with miso paste. It’s sweet, tangy, salty, and absolutely delicious. Let me know if you give it a go!
SMASH GYOZA - You may have seen the viral smash taco trend, well, this is a dumpling version, and it works! I saw someone (can’t remember who aaaah), do a similar recipe to this a while ago and thought I had to give it a go. This dumpling recipe requires no pleating, just folding, dunking in dipping sauce, and eating. It’s so easy and super delicious.
Let me know if you make anything, I always love to hear about and see your recreations!
I’m actually going to be away for the next couple of weeks, so there’ll be no newsletter from me! But, follow along with what I’ll be up to (it may involve going to an Indian wedding IN INDIA) on my Instagram!
See you in a couple of weeks and have a wonderful weekend my friends!!
