A Little Catch Up
Bonjour, mes amis!!! I hope you’ve had a lovely week!! Let’s get into our little catch up…
I made my Laksa-Style Dumpling Noodle Soup on p178 of my cookbook The World Is Your Dumpling this week. It’s a fantastic dish to rustle up when you’re short on time but want something comforting and super delicious. If you’ve already got my book, you’re an angel and I love you. If you don’t, then why not get a copy for yourself, a friend, or heck get one for your enemy to show some love <3
Butter by Asako Yuzuki is such an interesting read. It’s a Japanese book translated into English, and it’s about this journalist digging into a murder case involving a woman who’s famous for using her incredible cooking to seduce men. As she investigates, it’s not just about the crime—it dives into all these deeper questions about gender roles, power dynamics, and how society ties food to femininity. It’s thought-provoking but also super engaging…I’m learning SO much about Japanese culture, food, and cuisine. You’d love it if you’re into stories that mix mystery and food with social commentary!
Henry and I traveled back to the countryside last weekend and I forget how much I love the fresh country air. If you live in a busy city, this is your friendly reminder to escape to the countryside! It’ll do you good <3
Long Form Video :)
I’m starting a new YouTube series called Food Diaries, where I’ll share videos all about food. From what I eat in a day to the history of ingredients and the stories behind different dishes, each video will explore something new, fun, and/or interesting! Check out the first video below—I hope you enjoy it!
Recipes I’ve made this week (that I think you’ll love)
Easy Sausage Stew - inspired by French Cassoulet, this is a gorgeous stew that I grew up on, in France. The stew is made from bacon, sausages, celery, carrots, chicken broth, beans, tomatoes, and bay leaves for seasoning. It's then topped with my secret flavour bomb - sour cream and wholegrain mustard - and chopped parsley. Delicious served alone or with mashed potato.
Creamy Chicken & Broccoli Pasta Bake - It's comforting, cheesy, simple to make, and great for a low-effort dinner. Combining chicken and broccoli with a cheddar, mozzarella, paprika, and herby milky saucewith shell pasta and topping the bake with cheese, bacon and parsley results in the most delicious 45 minute recipe.
Lazy Teriyaki Chicken Stir Fry - it's perfect for when you need something quick, simple, and delicious for dinner. Coating the chicken in cornflourgives us a super crispy chicken bite combined with slightly crunchy mixed vegetables from broccoli, bell peppers, baby sweetcorn, and mangetouts (snow peas).
Thanks for being here, thanks for reading, thanks for all of your support!!
Over and out, see ya next week!
